After School Programming
Oakridge Neighborhood Services, Des Moines, IA
Planned and implemented an after school program for at-risk middle-school age youth for two years. This was a collaboration between CHARACTER COUNTS! IN IOWA and Oakridge with grant funding. Kids were involved in character building activities as well as leadership in service projects. The use of pre and post tests indicated positive change in character and school grades. The final service project involved kids planting 100 trees in their neighborhood.

Training Curriculum
Compiled and developed a Program Guide, The Character Builder's Toolbox, to equip afterschool and recreation program leaders with strategies and 100+ activities to build character in youth, Kindergarten through Grade 6 in Iowa. Includes action learning, children's literature, artistic expression, role play, table games as well as planning and evaluation tools.
